If we’re planning to stay in our bubbles let’s take a look at what’s worth binging. For the fans of The Crown, the highly anticipated Season 4 is set to air beginning November 15, 2020 (notification is already set on my iPhone). The 10-episode season is of great interest as the series enters the Diana years and will focus on the years between 1979 to 1990. A few photos have been released by Netflix. What do you think?
I’m excited to see how Emma Corrin fits into the shoes of Diana Spencer. I admit that when the show’s director announced Olivia Coleman taking over the role of Queen Elizabeth II from Claire Foy I was a bit sad. Foy was incredible but then Coleman too and is equally as convincing in the Queen’s next era. Plus, I read somewhere that Coleman is a fan of corgis. So, the pups got more screen time than in previous seasons.
We’re also given a first look at Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher. Not gonna lie, I had to look twice.
I think I’ll have to go back and rewatch the last season — just because.
As the 1970s are drawing to a close, Queen Elizabeth (Olivia Colman) and her family find themselves preoccupied with safeguarding the line of succession by securing an appropriate bride for Prince Charles (Josh O’Connor), who is still unmarried at 30. As the nation begins to feel the impact of divisive policies introduced by Britain’s first female Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher (Gillian Anderson), tensions arise between her and the Queen which only grow worse as Thatcher leads the country into the Falklands War, generating conflict within the Commonwealth. While Charles’ romance with a young Lady Diana Spencer (Emma Corrin) provides a much-needed fairytale to unite the British people, behind closed doors, the Royal family is becoming increasingly divided.
Season 4 cast includes Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II, Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip, Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret, Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher, Erin Doherty as Princess Anne, Josh O’Connor as Prince Charles, Marion Bailey as The Queen Mother, Emma Corrin as Diana Spencer.
The Crown is a Netflix Original series and is written by Peter Morgan.
