A groundbreaking theatrical experience from the originating producer of Come From Away and Canada’s leading immersive theatre company transforms former hospital spaces into a deeply personal journey through the future of paediatric care in I See You.
The Story Behind I See You
This extraordinary immersive theatre experience that brings the future of children’s health care to life through the stories of the patients and families at its heart.
For more than 151 years, The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) has pushed the boundaries of what is possible for children, youth and their families. Now, as SickKids Foundation prepares to launch a historic fundraising campaign next month, I See You offers a powerful look at the next chapter in that journey.
Over a three-week run, donors will be invited to attend more than 20 performances that explore how a more personalized approach to paediatric care could change lives.
Created through an unprecedented collaboration between SickKids, SickKids Foundation, artists, clinicians, researchers, volunteers, patients, families and supporters, I See You brings together the worlds of medicine, science and theatre.
The production was conceived in partnership with leading Canadian theatre companies Outside the March, The Musical Stage Company and Crow’s Theatre. Produced by Michael Rubinoff, the originating producer of Come From Away, and created by Mitchell Cushman, Tanja Jacobs and Kristen Thomson, the experience transforms hospital corridors and former clinical spaces into intimate performance settings for stories only SickKids can tell.
At the heart of the production is Precision Child Health, an approach that recognizes every child as an individual and aims to tailor care to their unique needs. Through a series of unfolding narratives inspired by patient experiences, guests are invited to explore the possibilities, breakthroughs and real-world impact of a future in which every child is seen more fully, understood more deeply and treated more personally.
The I See You experience brings three core pillars of Precision Child Health to life:
- Diagnose Faster: Shortening the journey to a definitive diagnosis.
- Treat Smarter: Reducing side effects and targeting the underlying causes of illness.
- Predict Better: Identifying what may lie ahead early enough to help prevent illness or complications.
More than a theatrical performance, I See You is an invitation to step inside the future of child health and witness what can happen when innovation, compassion and community come together. The experience has been made possible by the inspiration and participation of SickKids patients and their families, alongside the generosity of donors who are helping shape the future of paediatric care.
Nine SickKids patient ambassadors will share a place in the production alongside 16 of Canada’s leading performers, bringing deeply personal stories and the promise of Precision Child Health to the stage.
