Secret bars are all the rage in NYC and it seems like that trend is finally making it’s way to Toronto with spots like The Vatican and Kensinton Market’s Cold Tea so I am happy to tell you that Parkdale now has a little hidden gem of it’s own.

If you want to find the entrance to The Standard Bar, first you have to find Parkdale Pizza. It’s your typical little nondescript, unassuming take out pizza place on Queen St W, just west of Dufferin in the heart of Parkdale. No, you are not in the wrong place. That door does not lead to the back alley so don’t be shy, open it up and take a peek. Inside you will find a cozy little bar, all bathed in hot pink light, dominated by the bar, velvet banquet seating and a psychedelic basement space that I assume will host the overflow when the bar upstairs is packed.

Fresh off of it’s May 23 grand opening, The Standard is ready to whip you up some 1920’s inspired cocktails and feed you delicious, late night bites while they spin classic beats until the wee hours.
