Our travel checklist is ever-changing. There are times we want to relax on a sandy beach and there are other times when we want to climb the tallest buildings or eat infamous street food at the night markets. There are also times when we just need a quick getaway to bring back focus and well, mindfulness.
Mindfulness has become the buzz word of the past couple of years — even though the world overall seems to be running in the opposite direction. But mindfulness helps us manage through the everyday.
We’ve just learned about a Mindfulness Retreat that’s coming up in Barbados. Inspired Journeys, a Canadian Mindfulness practice and The Barbados Tourism Marketing Board, will host this special retreat from November 22 to 24, 2019. Mindfulness Living Barbados 2019 will take place at various sites throughout Barbados, including the host venue,, a beautifully restored boutique hotel, and will provide visitors and locals alike with a holistic mindful experience.
Founded by Canadian-Barbadian dual citizen Randi Mae Stanford Leibold, Inspired Journeys has led mindfulness events across Barbados including at Codrington College, Naniki Lush Life and. Based in Toronto, Canada, Randi Mae provides counselling services and wellness instruction to individual and organizational clients, including multiple clinics and events throughout the not-for-profit, private and public sectors.
Headlining the Mindful Living Barbados speaker roster is internationally renowned music video visionary, Director X, who will lead a session on behalf of Operation Prefrontal Cortex, the newly launched program harnessing the power of mindfulness and meditation to reduce incidents of gun and mass violence in Toronto.
Mindful Living Barbados will also include speakers, and workshops, as well as daily practice, including guided meditations, yoga, and Tai Chi. These will all take place at various Barbadian sites featuring world famous locations and delicious cuisine. In addition to Sweetfield Manor, Mindful Living Barbados guests can expect a morning yoga session at Gun Hill Signal Station, dining at Peg Farm, an excursion at Naniki Lush Life and more.
Personally, Barbados is one of my favourite islands to visit. The beaches are soothing, food is wonderful (check out Oistins on Friday nights), hospitality is warm and inviting and well, Rihanna.
Sounds like a great getaway before the stress of the holiday season, right? Watch the site for full pricing, coming soon.
