Sometimes, the synopsis of a book doesn’t catch your eye. Similarly, there are instances when you don’t buy into the bookstagram hype. Additionally, maybe the cover is boring, or perhaps it isn’t a genre you regularly read. Consequently, there are many reasons why certain books don’t land on your TBR. However, there is something that could totally change that.
That leads into my advice for this month:
- Go to an author event or listen to an interview with an author.
Sometimes that is all it takes.
Listening to an author discuss their books can profoundly change your perspective. For example, a funny anecdote might draw you in, while the backstory can deepen your understanding. Additionally, the author’s vulnerability related to the premise can create an unexpected emotional bond. After spending time with the creator, you often find yourself more invested in their works, approaching them from a fresh head-and-heart space. This experience ultimately enriches your appreciation of the story.
