When we learned about Yellofruit, we hauled out summer fun and took it next level. With new graduates and birthdays happening and social bubbles beginning to open up, we were very interested in more yummy ways to stay cool!
Yellofruit is only a year old. Created by a Toronto-based family who wanted a delicious treat that was made with ingredients that were “clean”. It starts with bananas. Yup. A non-dairy frozen banana treat that scoops out like creamy rich ice cream. But not made like traditional ice cream with milk or cream. Yeah, you can call it “FroBa” as in frozen banana!
The idea was conceived by Andrew Kinnear and Claire Lysnes as they sat around the dining room table. What if they created something that tasted great that was better for their kids as well as the planet. Who doesn’t love a nice cool and sweet treat especially in the summer? From that notion came this wonderful plant-based frozen banana dessert with easily recognizable and certified organic ingredients. And as parents, they knew how important it was for the treat to also be peanut-free so it’s safer for more people to enjoy.
Then came the flavours! Imagine being a kid in their test kitchen exploring and deciding on their favourites? When it came down to deciding on what flavours to concentrate on they consulted with their own children which ultimately was a no brainer when it came down to officially naming what would be available on shelves in the frozen treats aisle: Monty’s Favourite Strawberry, Holly’s Favourite Mango, and Eddy’s Favourite Chocolate.
Okay, and they are truly delicious. The texture of each flavour is creamy and the flavours taste clean. Read the label and it’s all goodness with organic bananas, organic cane sugar. Plus they are made in Canada! Yes!!! Support Canadian small businesses!
We weren’t surprised to learn that they were already named one of the top 10 most innovative products at SIAL in 2019, an international food and beverage trade show. They also were a finalist in the 2020 Annual Retail Council of Canada – Canadian Grand Prix New Product Awards.
We recently had a mini graduation family celebratory treat. Not gonna lie, we went a little crazy with backyard decorations. The Yellofruit flavours were a hit! Lactose-sensitive tummies were very happy too to have something cool to enjoy!
You can find them now in more than 1000 stores across Canada. Check www.yellofruit.com for more details and where to find them.
