Watches have always been a personal interest of mine. One of the true magical inventions of all time. They serve their purpose of keeping us on track. They can be stylish in their many shapes and sizes and they can be smart. SO smart! They can do all the things or do just exactly what they were made for…to give us the time. Citizen’s TSUYOSA has finally arrived in Canada. Here’s why it’s watch enthusiasts are raving

In a world that is constantly shifting and evolving quickly, watches continue to be our steadfast companion. They are ticking away reminding us to move or to just be. The latest arrival of the CITIZEN Automatic NJO15 Series has caught my attention.  Also known as the “TSUYOSA” (Japanese for “strength”) this model is already a favourite amongst watch enthusiasts around the world not only for its good looks and great mechanics, but it also is a perfect finishing touch for those of us who enjoy an uncluttered and minimalist approach to life.

My collection of watches have a time and a place. Each one fits into my lifestyle at any given moment. But the Tsuyosa is that timepiece that evokes modernity and confidence without having to prove itself. Yes, it fit right into the whole “Quiet Luxury” mindset.

What is “Quiet Luxury”?

You’ve probably heard these buzzy words recently. Well, we all know about being mindful in all aspects of our lives. That goes for what we consume. This is a more understated but thoughtful presence. Less flashy. Less blatant. Less screaming “Hey, look at me!” It’s having more awareness and understanding of choices and the individual impact you may have. It’s not about flash or trends. More about the fine details…and maybe you’re the only one who knows.

The vintage vibe also makes this timepiece very attractive to many. But it’s the understated details that makes this a clear winner for me…

  • The option of colour ways on the face — blue, yellow, green, acqua, and black remind me of a high end luxury watch line but if you look closely you will also notice a subtle Sunday pattern.
  • The Stainless Steel case and bracelet is a stronger statement without being overpowering on someone smaller framed like me. And each link is curved for a modern take.
  • The crown is set on the 4 o’clock position which I LOVE — it’s a simple detail that elevates this watch.

I have dainty watches that are reserved for dressy nights out, but I know I can also rock this men’s sized Tsuyosa anytime. I crushed hard on the aqua colour. And the price point ($595 CDN) is surprisingly decent for this timepiece that will withstand the test of time and trends.
