International Women’s Day is a big day around this blog. And while this coming Thursday March 5th should already be firmly marked on your calendar, we’re doubling down the significance of this day and putting a spotlight exactly where it should be, on Aphrodite Cooks, the location of Turn up the Heat, a culinary fundraiser and evening of utmost importance.
With six female chefs donating their talents to the event, Turn up the Heat aims to not only highlight the wonderful work women are doing in the kitchen, but also to assist some very worthy causes by benefiting local charities Building Roots, Sistering, and Red Door Family Shelter.

But who’s feeding you, you say? The list is like a dream-team of culinary creators, with Cookie Martinez, Miriam Echeverria, Francoise Briet, Rossy Earle, Tonia Wilson, Doris Fin, Vanessa Yeung, Chantal Vechambre, Kenzie Osborne, Maria Rozynska, Katherine Mellin, Darlene Mitchell and Mary Claire Thompson offering a full four course experience that capitalizes on the strengths of these amazing chefs.
Benazzoli Estate will be featuring their ‘Dreams of a Woman’ as pairing choices for those opting in for the wine flight which will be offered by sommelier Katherine Mellin, owner of Apparition Wine and Spirits. The evening will represent everything that collectively we’ve all been working towards, a signal that we’re finally making progress and slowly working towards parity. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to show your support for these talented chefs but also the charities they hold so near and dear to their hearts.
Tickets are $125, and $165 for wine pairing. Tickets are nearly sold out, so get yours today and look for us there! Grab your tickets now at Canadian Women in Food.
