I don’t wear a lot of makeup at home or away. On a beach vacation, my make up regime is minimal and pretty much what I do at home. Eyes, lips and sunscreen of course. If I’m out at night or out at events during the day, I’ll add on a light tinted moisturizer, eye shadow, and colour on my lips. That’s about it. No-fuss. I recently discovered the company Nudestix – a beauty brand that is designed for people who are more interested in a more natural look. Created by sisters Jenny (Founder and President), Taylor and Ally Frankel, Nudestix was created for those of us who are not interested in heavy makeup. They believe that everyone is naturally beautiful. It’s all about enhancing what you have with an easy touch. Their motto #GoNudeButBetter. I dig that! Also, I don’t really want to spend THAT much time in front of the bathroom mirror.  Now that I’m home with slightly sunkissed skin from Jamaica, all I really want is to extend that glow that I love so much.

I recently brought a couple of tubes of Nudestix Magnetic Lip Plush Paints since I had learned that the products were specially formulated to be used safely for lips, eyes, and cheeks. Triple duty! Awesome! The versatility meant less stuff for me to bring. Amen! But what really caught my attention was that the line is made free of parabens, sulfates or phthalates (also cruelty-free, gluten-free, fragrance-free and vegan). Each tube is also enriched with soothing rosewater, green tea extract, chamomile extract and aloe extracts – ideal for keeping skin nourished in the heat as well as the colder climates here at home.

These three-in-one tubes are well designed for easy application. Colour is easy to blend on cheeks and enhancing my tropical glow now at home. When I want a hint of colour on my lips for the beach (I always apply SPF lip balm underneath after being burnt one year) the matte colour stayed put. When applied I noticed it’s feathery-light texture. I expected a creamy feel but it was the opposite. On their site, they have tips on how to use their products, but to be honest I didn’t check at first, they are designed to be easy to apply.  I found one dot of the colour from the brush wand on my eyelids was enough coverage to achieve the natural look I wanted – I simply blended in the colour with my fingertips. Very fast and easy! Hey, it shouldn’t be so difficult, right?

The Magnetic Lip Plush Paints ($34 each) come in seven shades – I have Bahama Mama and Wakiki Rose shades that will stay in my regular regime now. Honestly, just as lovely as my NARS Laguna Bronzer that I’ve been using for a few years but that was only for my cheeks and forehead.

The Nudestix Magnetic Lip Plush Paints also come with a limited-edition tin with mirror that features the artwork by Canadian Pop artist Jessica Gorlicky. A favourite Toronto-based artist of mine that does also does live performance paintings with so much energy and fun! You can check her work on instagram @jessgo

I admit I had never heard of the line before trying these but a week with the two tubes I travelled with have me very interested in trying other products with this brand.
