Fall is upon us here in the GTA and with that comes one of the main hallmarks of this season; apple picking! While some of us have already braved the orchards, there are still many varieties growing on trees waiting to be picked. So, with a long weekend quickly approaching, here are some great Auburn Lane approved apple orchards we think you should hit for an afternoon activity and for filling for all those pies, crumbles and flans you are itching to make.

Chudleigh’s Farm

Located in Milton, Chudleigh’s is a well known orchard for most of us living in the GTA. Their apple orchards have been open for picking since 1967; meaning generations of families have grown up in their fields. After apple picking is done be sure to enjoy the play area, nature walk and pony rides.

Dixie Orchards

Head North on Dixie and you will be sure to hit this family-fun orchard. There are 20 varieities of apples available for you to pick along with pick-your-own pumpkins, squash, pears and plums. A corn maze, wagon ride and fresh food market are also on site.

Downey’s Strawbery and Apple Farm

Located in Caledon, Downey’s offers apple picking until the begining of November. No entrance fee is required but they do ask you pick a minimum of $5.00 worth of apples. Candy apples, apple cider and wagon rides are also available.

Brooks Farm

Every year Brooks Farm throws a fall festival, inviting families of all ages to come and pick apples and enjoy the great outdoors. After you’ve had your fill of picking you can enjoy a corn maze, zip line, train ride, farm animals, tire swings and many more activities. The farm is located in Mount Albert.

Applewood Farm and Winery

A little something for everyone! After taking a wagon ride out to the apple orchards, treat yourself to a bottle of iced apple cider, meade or black currant port.

Archibald’s Orchard and Estate Winery

Located in Bowmanville, this orchard has over 10,000 apple trees. Growing apples since 1967, Archibalds believes apples aren’t just for eating, they also make great beverages. Pick your own apples and then be sure to purchase some wine or cider. Everyone will go home happy!

Pingles Farm Market

For over 30 years, Pingles has been growing apples. Located in Hampton, this pick-your-own orchard also offers a brand new attraction; their Reptilia Zoo Maze.

Apples of Glasgow

This small, family run orchard is located near Stouffville. Come and pick from three different types of apples: crisp and tart Mcintosh, sweet Red Delicious or Empire. Be sure to grab a taste of their specially made apple cider.

The Apple Orchard

With over 10,000 apple and pear trees, The Apple Orchard is ripe for the picking. Located in Hamilton, this family fun farm grows over 35 varieties of apples and four different types of pears. Be sure to enjoy the hay jump, corn maze and wagon rides.

Carl Laidlaw Orchards

If you are looking to pick your own apples apples and then back a pie right away, then you have found the right orchard. Carl Laidlaw Orchards offers visitors the opportunity to bake a pie right on their premises. While your pie is in the oven, be sure to check out the hay barn, toy tractors or barn beam walk!
