Our furry companions are always there for us offering us comfort when we’re down and so, so joyful when we give them complete and undivided attention. They nudge us when we’ve been on the computer or have been zooming for too long. That’s not the same as them zooming as dog owners know! Over the past few months, more and more people have been adopting, fostering, and adding puppies and dogs to their homes. No surprise. We all have more time at home to spend with them. On this International Dog Day, we decided to take a look at what has been trending in Canada on Google. That is, what are some of the most popular (and maybe even quirky) searches have been happening this year.

This past May, searches for “adopt a dog” reached an all-time high and searches for dogs grew to 2x more than cats in Canada throughout 2020 (that’s okay Felix, you are still loved!)

There also have been spikes in searches over the past month for “dog bandanas” up 250%.

People were also searching up “good dog names” which saw an increase of 450% from previous years.

  3. Luna
  4. Milo
  5. Bailey

We could spend all day searching up dog stuff! But then we’d get nothing else done.

Happy International Dog Day!
