Travelling 40 minutes along the QEW from Toronto to Hamilton isn’t without its adventures. Maybe there will be an overturned truck with chickens running for their lives. On the other hand, a dump truck might lift its bucket just as it goes under a bridge. Or maybe you won’t get over to the left-hand lane fast enough and end up on your way to Brantford. Whatever happens on the journey it is still worth driving into the “Hammer” to experience a burgeoning food scene.

Lobby Bar Hamilton

After a few unfortunate closures of some of the city’s heavyweights (*sniff* Brux House) Lobby Bar Toronto is the latest to branch out South. Bringing with it high-end cocktails, club-like vibes but for quieter weekend mornings; a brunch experience like no other.

It’s situated in the former space of a local favourite radius, who moved to the popular Hess Village. Lobby brings freshness and light to a previously darker space. While Hess supports the local college and university scene and further West, Locke Street hits the young families and more settled residents. Augusta Street is for those not ready to shake their untouchable youth or settle down with a white picket fence.

Lobby Bar Hamilton

Hamilton has lots of great watering holes from dive bars to craft cocktails and Lobby is just another great addition. However, what will really set them apart from other establishments in the city is their brunch.

Alongside the pizza flight you can get from Cowabunga Pizza (BTW- best pizza in town) Lobby has elevated your mid-morning experience. You can’t top the visual and gastronomical masterpiece of the brunch tower.

Lobby Bar Hamilton Fruit Tier Brunch tower

It’s available in a full or half size and feeds 2-4 people. You don’t have to decide when you want something sweet or something savoury. Here you get it all. With options changing frequently to meet the seasons you can expect some variety of fruit, pastries, eggs, meat, eggs benny, avo toast, yogurt, granola…you name it and it’s probably under there somewhere. A highlight is the blueberry pancakes with a crispy outside and, incredibly, a soft and fluffy center.

A perfect companion to all of these culinary delights and communal dining experiences with your friends is the bottomless mimosas also available on the menu. Sure you can order some of the items as standalone dishes but, at the end of the day, why would you when you can share it all?

Brunch officially launches at the Hamilton location on January 28, 2024 and I highly recommend giving it a try. Variety is the spice of life!
