Yonge and Bloor may not be the first location you would suspect to find a bowling alley, but The Ballroom Yorkville is so much more than that. The luxe space is completely unrecognizable from its previous tenant, with eight lanes that offer a gussied-up landscape for all your gutterballs.

Let the Good Times Roll at The Ballroom Yorkville

Expert bowlers and novices alike will appreciate all the little extra details that owner Paul Donato baked into every square foot of this underground palace. As the owner of downtown’s John Street Ballroom since it opened in 2010, no one would argue that Paul has balls. Lots of them. This expansion marks the first of a few for the Ballroom in Toronto, with another location already in the works at Yonge and Dundas.

Bowling, but make it Yorkville…

Bowling may be what gets you in the door, but there’s more to explore here beyond striking out. The dining room lounge and bar area are decked out in warm woods and bronze. High ceilings and generous banquettes flank the space. There are a few TVs for sports and more at the bar.

The space is unexpectedly upscale. A modern three-sided water vapour fireplace anchors marble tabletops and leather seating. These little touches distinguish it from its sister spot, but also from any other Yorkville resto-lounges. People-watching is at its finest here, whether you don borrowed bowling shoes or not.

Modern and luxurious- two words we never associated with bowling

Backed by a full kitchen and well-equipped bar, The Ballroom is more than just a bowling alley. You may assume that a bowling alley would just boast basics like pizza or burgers, but the kitchen presents tasty high-quality food here. Standouts like the Short Rib Mac n Cheese ($24), Citrus-Habanero Chicken Sandwich ($21) or Miso Honey Garlic Wings ($19/lb) mix with burgers and quite a few vegan options.

Another standout dish is the Calamari & Pickled JalapeƱo ($18), which comes super crispy. You can instantly tell this food is fresh and made in-house.

Pristine Bowling Lanes Beckon at The Ballroom Yorkville

Of course, in keeping with the modern design, bowling also gets the latest tech for tracking each roll. There are even various games baked into the system. The Ballroom Bowl Yorkville features DJ’s every Friday and Saturday night. Drink specials and meal deals are also on rotation, and they’re offering half-priced bowling on Wednesdays. Rates top out at $32.50 per person, per hour at peak times.
