It’s time for those May showers and that means you better have a lineup of binge watchable shows on the ready. Yeah, I know it’s April showers but it’s Canada where we experience all four seasons all spring long.
The Diplomat (Netflix)
I just started watching this show because I really like all the actors. Myguy loves anything about spies, espionage and political intrigue so this fit all needs. If you liked the Americans, I think you will like this Kery Russell showcase. She plays a career diplomat who is suddenly appointed ambassador to the UK while she is the midst of trying to disentangle herself from her political rockstar husband who always brings the drama. Rufus Sewell costars as her manipulative, pathologically who is behind the derailment of her assignment in Kabul. Created by Debora Cahn (Homeland, The West Wing) this show is quick, funny and smart.
Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story (Netflix)
Young Queen Charlotte’s marriage to King George of England sparks an epic love story and transforms high society in this “Bridgerton” universe prequel. Do I need to say more?
Daisy Jones and The Six (Amazon Prime)
Loosely based on the doomed romance between Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, this came out in March. I have just started watching it now and I’m hooked. It’s the story of a rock band that was at the height of their fame in the late 70’s when they suddenly call it quits. Based on the 2019 book of the same name, it uses a documentary style to reveal why they split so abruptly after their whirlwind rise to the top.
