Fall is a season that is so beautiful, right? The colours of the changing leaves motivate us to get outside and breathe it all in. Days can still be warm while the nights begin to cool off. Transition season is what we call it and our style flows right with it. Wondering what to wear during this time? We have our favourite looks of the season!
Sweater weather is here and we love staying cozy. While we’re not quite ready for woolly options, we definitely are interested in sweaters that are not too bulky but offer a hint of warmth. We’re all for a details that make a piece more interesting without looking too trendy. Hey, we aren’t into fast fashion here!
Puffy coat season will soon be here but for now we are still embracing “shackets” and “coatigans”. Shirt-style jackets continue to be a strong option for those casual days and longer sweaters and coatigans can easily go from office to a night out in style.
It’s easy for us to also fall straight into richer colour tones in the fall to brighten up our days. This thin (but warm enough for this season) quilted jacket from the Uniqlo : C collection in one of our autumn favourite shades goes beautifully with earth tones and denim. The collection is a special collaboration with British-born designer Claire Waight Keller who has been the Creative Director at several luxury labels. You’ll want to check out the collection and how Canadian style blogger Nathalie Martin pulls it all together here.
Also, transition season can also mean a little layering especially at night or if you’re planning a weekend recharge getaway up north. Uniqlo’s HeatTech line of inner wear offers warmth that’s remarkably thin so you won’t feel bulked up. This brand is known for bringing the latest and cutting-edge fabric technology at attainable pricing. Some favourites of ours also include built in bras for added comfort.
The sneaker look is still going strong and while we have crushed all over white sneakers in the summer, we now look for softer neutrals to go with our fall attire. These Skechers x Martha Stewart Plateau style suede sneakers really surprised us! They seem to go with everything in the softer pink and the platform gives elevates the look. And secretly we love the cushiony insoles with air cool memory foam that are perfect for wearing for hours.
By the way, we discovered that some flagship Uniqlo stores are now doing minor repairs and patches to clothing – like, if you’ve been pulling out your sweaters this season and have discovered a few moth eaten holes (ugh) or small tears in fabrics from an overzealous puppy. The additional service is offered and align with the Japanese apparel brand’s ethos of a more sustainable lifestyle. Check their site for more details and where this service is offered.
