SaunaTek may strike you as just another nifty new outfit, but a deeper-dive on this bit of gear suggests there’s a lot more going on beyond the seams than just a catchy gimmick. Available at your local Sport Chek, SaunaTek’s claims of ‘Gear Up, Slim Down, Get Fit‘ seems lofty- surely by wearing gym clothes and working out you’ll break a sweat, but there’s science in this claim. Think back to those Rocky movies, with Sly running up and down those steps in his grey sweatsuit- boxers wore extra layers to sweat off the water weight before a big fight.

Now, some decades later, there’s innovation to be added to that sweatsuit, here by way of neoprene which locks in your own body heat which increases your core temperature and keeps you toasty, a bonus during outdoor workouts, or an add-on to make your HIIT class a little extra intense. Antimicrobial protection helps keep the gross germs and odours off you, and while it’s hand-wash only, the fabric dries super quick and retains the flashy neon-colours that pop during park workouts.

Wrapped in bright reflective stripes, you feel protected wearing this high-vis gear. Thumb holes give a mitten like warmth to your digits and pockets are a functional touch. The hoodie is lightweight so a hat may be a nice extra, but if you’re stepping outdoors this spring with wacky weather, this is a pretty safe jacket to support anything Mother Nature throws at you.

SaunaTek‘s line of fitness gear includes a men’s line, so consider going matchy-matchy with your man this spring. Jackets start at $74.99, and pants start at $59.99. Find all the looks at your local Sport Chek, or stay safe and shop online through www.sportchek.ca
