Toronto’s top plant-based eatery, Stefano’s Sandwiches, is getting a new permanent home. Currently slinging out vegan eats and treats out of Gia, owner Jennifer Coburn says the timing is perfect for Stefano to step out on his own.

Yes, he. Stefano happens to be Jennifer’s adorable pooch and the face of the brand. And they both have big plans to take plant-based fast casual food to the next level.

Get Ready for Summer’s Hot New Opening

Nearby Trinity-Bellwoods Park is built for summer picnics, as is Stefano’s Sandwiches. The origin story of the Dan Levy-approved eatery is as juicy as the Impossible Double Smash Burgers that regularly sell out.

Gia found itself at the dreaded pivot point in 2021. Gia, with its super sexy dining room, ethereal lighting and open kitchen was forced to change. Takeaway plant-forward pasta and antipasti could not compare to what they lost on traditional dining. Pivoting to fast food was a start. Sticking to its plant-based roots proved Toronto had an appetite for tasty plant-based everything.

Stefano’s Sandwiches are Beyond Impressive

The food is straight-up addictive. Burgers and plant-based sandwiches are glorious. Pasta and greens round out the options. Giving Stefano’s Sandwiches a spot of his own signals that this is more than a trend. Everyone is eating more plant-based now, and Stefano is leading the pack for plant-curious and meat lovers alike.

Crafting food that is exciting for both those worlds is important for Jennifer. “We have a very strict guideline of standards. That level of strictness to provide to the public can be difficult for some plant-based chefs. We’re plant-forward. We always provide every single ingredient so you can trace allergies and be sure of what you’re eating.”

Finding this new dedicated home for Stefano’s Sandwiches means better access. For popular delivery apps, walk-ins and takeout, it will also serve as a home for expansion. “It’s adorably perfect. It gives us potential to explore more plant-based groceries, frozen foods and pantry items like our Vegan Brie and handmade pasta,” offers Jennifer.

Stefano’s Sandwiches will open this June at 1265 Dundas Street W and is available through Gia until the launch.
