SonyaA new fit-based, peer-to-peer clothing sharing app, ReSuit, has launched here in Toronto that allows for users to rent, purchase or sell their fashionable goods to a community of style enthusiasts who share a passion for sustainable living.
Co-founded by Toronto fashion industry veteran Nada Shepherd and David Shepherd, himself an accomplished leader in the technology industry, the app aims to connect fashion lovers who want to change the way they consume clothing. You can read their story here.
The ReSuit app makes online experience personalized by using a proprietary AI algorithm matching people with similar body shapes and measurements, resulting in near perfect fit apparel regardless of the clothing size label.
How does it work?
When you download the app and create an account, the app will also request your measurements. Since size labels can vary from brand to brand and country to country, it’s important to input your true size measurements whether you’re selling, renting or purchasing.
The site/app is neatly categorized: rent out, rent, buy, sell and makes it easy to use.
If you’re selling, simply upload a photo along with a few details and the price you’d like to list the item at. If potential buyers are interested they will send through a request. Once you agree to the transaction, you can meet up in person or mail the item out. If you have an item that may be pricier, there are options for micro-insurance on the app to help should there be damage or loss of the item. Discrepancies on either side of the exchange will be dealt with by ReSuit but be sure to keep track of items, descriptions and hold onto any images.
Browsing for that next outfit? The app categorizes items to help you find things more efficiently. They include Beach, Beauty, Dress Shop, Everyday Essentials, Party, Lounge, Runway. When we checked it out there were also availability for children’s clothing. We even spotted a Chanel handbag that is available for rent.
A summary page allows users to keep track of their activity. Once an exchange is complete the seller and the buyer (or renters) will have a unique transaction code within the app that will help initiate the payment processing.
