I’m a grazer. I always have been. I use to gravitate to cookies, popcorn and chips but then I started seeing protein balls popping up everywhere at coffee shops, health food stops, and even in meetings. Okay, I still reach for popcorn but the little bite-size balls have often kept me from reaching for the muffins.  I’m trying to make a conscious decision to reach for goodies that are better for me and hey, little summer dress season is fast approaching!

I started making these beauties for myself with ingredients that I really love.  I realized that I was spending a lot of $ overall on the nuggets and figured I can make them at home at a fraction of the price.

I created this recipe using SIBU Sea Berry Therapy Omega-7 Pure Sea Berry Puree since I was intrigued with this superfood. But it has a tart taste. I started looking for ways to incorporate it into my day other than adding it to my morning smoothie.

First off, what is it? Sea Berries (aka Sea Buckthorn)  have been used and documented in many cultures for over 13 centuries. In ancient times it was used to help lower fever, treat colds and coughs, and help with digestion. The tiny berry is a powerhouse and is considered one of the world’s most vitamin-rich food. Grown 12,000 feet above sea level in the Himalayas, it’s also one of the most resilient. This particular brand works with a collective of Tibetan women who manage and harvest the Sea Berries providing them, and their villages a sustainable income.

Sea buckthorn has also become a coveted ingredient at world-class Michelin-rated restaurants in the U.S. and Europe, used by top chefs who have been incorporating the unique flavour into innovative dishes. Sea Berry Therapy’s certified organic Omega-7 Pure, for example, is a regularly-used product in designer beverages, main course dishes and niche desserts at renowned natural food restaurant True Food Kitchen.

The juice from the berries is naturally very high in Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and protein. It’s a very powerful antioxidant to fight inflammation and supports healthy skin, hair, and nails. Sea Berries also support healthy sugar levels in our system and more. Here’s what’s listed…

*Sustains energy levels.
*Improves cellular health.
*Cardiovascular support.
*Healthy inflammation response.
*Joint support.
*Moisturizing dry and damaged skin.
*Improved immune health.
*A decrease in wrinkles and fine lines.
*Addressing eczema and rosacea symptoms.

Okay, this recipe was created while I was playing around with flavours that I love. Now I’m making them for a few friends. Don’t be afraid to try your own variations! They take minutes to make and doesn’t require any fancy equipment. They’re also great to take along with you for a mid-morning or afternoon snack on the go.
