Beer fests, once relegated to a single short summer season are now the talk of the town pretty much year round, with festivals and special events taking place even in the coldest of temps. Are you surprised? I’m not. I’m a beer guzzling Canadian who prefers the great outdoors as my own natural cooler. Shove a 2-4 on the deck at ºC and you got yourself a party! For me, beer is a drink of choice for any occasion, season be damned.

Back in my hayday pulling pints beer was noticeably more popular come summer months. We knew come May 2-4 the beer fridge is to be stocked, jammed with too many to chose (never mind inventory). But beer is more a precise science than my bartending days gave it credit for. I’d roll a keg into the kegroom, change it, kick it on the way out, and be done. Now we know proper temperatures for each variety, best practices for pouring and a whole bunch of other sciencey stuff that goes into making great beer taste even better.
This weekend brings these two magic words together, but here, at the third annual Toronto Winter Brewfest you won’t have to suffer in the cold, the toasty Enercare Centre is host to dozens of craft breweries, DJ’s and food trucks, but that’s not all, there’s also indoor plumbing! We’re stoked to see all our local faves like Oast House mingling alongside some of the cities best food purveyors, add some DJ’s and you got yourself a destination!
Tickets are up for grabs still for either Friday or Saturday night. Learn more about TWB Fest and their line up of brewers here.
