We are back with another great release in the Creemore Springs Discovery Series. This time around they are welcoming everything Fall; pumpkin spice, apple picking, hay rides, raking leaves, cooler nights and even chillier mornings with a classic German Oktoberfest.

We all know the term Oktoberfest and it’s association with sausages, kegs of beer, parties and beer steins but do you know what it is as a beer style? As a seasonal drinker who leans towards darker, malty beers when the weather dips below 10 degrees this beer takes up prime real estate in my beer fridge.

Creemore Springs Oktoberfest

Despite it’s name this German lager is traditionally brewed and consumed in mid September. They don’t necessarily indicate a style but more a beer tied to a specific time. They pour a gorgeous amber hue with a pillowy white head of foam. You can expect dominant flavors of caramel and hints of toasted bread and honey which is perfect to pair with roasted meats like pork, sausages, spicy food, caramel desserts, hard cheeses and more. Even better Oktoberfest beers are amazing cooking beers. Toss some from you glass into a stew or chili or better yet use it as your base of slow cooked homemade maple baked beans. And always have a pint on hand to try alongside your dish.

While it has sold out in stores it is still available in limited quantities at the brewery in Creemore, Ontario. And what says Fall more than a road trip enjoying the Autumn colours to small town Ontario.

*thank you to Creemore Springs for gifting me some of this beer to try. All opinions are 100% my own.
