Training Lane is a clever new concept from first-time entrepreneur Sophie Matis. Born from the desire to provide a better experience for gym go-ers and trainers alike, Training Lane is unlike any other fitness space I’ve ever seen. And that is the ethos of why Sophie created this concept, to begin with. After a terrible injury resulted in severe nerve damage, Sophie, who was in the hospitality industry previously, sought a better solution to standing around waiting for her physio to gain access to vital gym equipment.

Instead, Training Lane puts the power in your hands through their proprietary app, built by Sophie’s own brother, or as she likes to add “the only dude involved in the project“, with a chuckle. From the design to the PR, social media to the banker who helped her with financing, Sophie ensured she worked with women-only along the way, an impressive move that asserts her position on how lopsided she views her current and former industries.

The result is a breath of fresh air, rates are accessible (as low as $20/hr with a package) for your own ‘lane’, a self-serving space delineated by lines on the floor ensuring each user has their own sanitized 8′ x 22′ lane to sweat with pretty much all the equipment you’ve been missing out on; think kettlebells, all the free weights, smith machines, resistance bands, TRX, slam balls, pull-up/chin-up bar and more. There’s also a communal area you can access with a climbing rope, gymnastic rings, assault bike and rower. The app allows users to access Training Lane pretty much without any contact- Sophie has taken many COVID considerations to ensure a safe experience for everyone.

A supernatural sauna is ready and waiting after your workout, with a cold-plunge style shower adjacent in the same tidy private room. Save time to finish the detox experience with this chromotherapy enabled high-tech hothouse. Whether you’re a trainer looking to keep your commissions or a fitness enthusiast who’s not quite ready to head back into the big-box gym just yet, Training Lane is a great fit to keep you focused on your fitness goals.
