Newfoundland

East Coast adventures, like the stunning Cabot Trail, are truly bucket-list material. But honestly, Newfoundland tops my list of maritime provinces for so many reasons. The people are the kindest, most generous and funniest strangers you’ll ever meet.

While there are some big chain hotels in town, we suggest hitting up an Airbnb and living like a local. Tiny homes are a hot ticket and won’t cost you an arm and a leg. If you have a big budget, Fogo Island is a great place to drop a wad of cash (from what we hear).

Moving west, Quebec is La Belle province, and for good reason. Carnavale in Quebec City, the shopping and culture of Montreal, or, the beauty of the eastern townships, Quebec has it going on! Activities abound year-round, but skiing is a must, at popular spots like Mont Tremblant, or Le Massif de Charlevoix, in Charlevoix. This stunning resort also holds the brag-worthy 7.5km toboggan trek.

Good things grow in Ontario, and while there are no dazzling ocean vistas there is a steady buzz of city, food and culture no matter where you land. Kingston, located 2.5 hours from Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal is a trifecta of those values. The food scene here is on par with those bigger cities, but here, local foods are grown year-round, right in town. Menus celebrate local food talent. Breweries abound, and charming stays range from boutique to budget-friendly.

Kingston offers easy March Break escapes and family-friendly fun. Think museums, skating, shopping and nature. The hugely popular Kingstonlicious prix-fixe food festival is also on until March 31st.
