Canadian winters are notoriously hard on skin. It’s hard to escape indoor heating, coupled with a drop in humidity. The combo can zap your skin. Next, throw in daily hot showers that might feel great in the depths of February but your skin just continues to dry out even more. If you spend a lot of time outdoors, you also have to contend with chapped, windburned skin from your lips to your hands.
As you age, your skin needs different levels of skin treatment and you will have to start adapting your beauty products to keep up. I am in my late 50’s and, although blessed with pretty good skin, I can no longer get away with slapping on whatever cream I have lying on around, especially during the winter. Libby, on the other hand, is almost two decades younger than me, so she has different needs than Always on the hunt for age-appropriate products, youngster, Libby and I share our thoughts about some great products from boscia that work for both of us.

Products to combat dry winter skin
Tsubaki Swirl ($50)
This rich, two-part gel/cream moisturizer is perfect if you are looking for nourished, hydrated, smooth skin without any greasy residue. It absorbs quickly and helps to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, increasing collagen synthesis.
Exfoliating Peel Gel ($45)
This lightweight peeling gel offers gentle exfoliation, increasingly important as our skin ages. It removes the outer layer of dead skin, a chemical peel to penetrate for a deeper exfoliation and, lastly, as a firming. brightening treatment. Harsh exfoliation is not friendly to older, more delicate skin so this one is a great choice.
Luminizing Charcoal Mask ($45)
This one is not specifically geared towards mature skin but being “mature” doesn’t mean you are free of large pores and oily skin, my friends. A blend of Charcoal and Vitamin C work to unclog your pores and works to absorb excess oil, leaving your skin feeling clean and revived.

Bring the Winter Indoors
Carole has beautiful skin. I often admire her ability to look natural while of course wearing makeup, a trick of the trade, she’s a talented makeup artist. Balanced by the fact she doesn’t require much makeup, Carole’s skincare routine has been something of a topic, on more than one occasion. Being 41 myself, I am just seeing those creeping little lines around my eyes and mouth.
I haven’t had any drastic injections or major overhauls, instead, I’m enjoying the whispers of my primetime coming to fruition. Relying on the same boscia products Carole listed above, I also add a bit of an extra, a necessary double-wash in the shower daily. Since I play sports, especially hockey with a sweaty bucket on my head, I need a deep cleanse to get rid of blackheads and oily skin. Ugh, still.
Cryosea© Firming Icy-Cold Cleanser
boscia’s aptly named icy-cold cleanser is just that, so if you’re hitting up hot yoga, this cleanser is your new bestie. Amped up with AHA‘s to leave skin soft and smooth, this product works to firm and adds a sensory layer to your skincare routine. The formula is gentle enough to use daily thanks to the boscia Cryosea© blend, a mix of sea algae and sea kelp extracts that are proven to bolster both skin texture and tone.
