Grape Witches Waterworks Is The Wine Lovers Oasis We Need

Some things just scream summer. Ice cream cones, that charcoal barbecue smell and for me, a chilled glass of rosé. At Grape Witches Waterworks, that rosé is an easy feat to accomplish. And the gathering spot just grew, with the recent opening of its dog-friendly patio.

Located right across from an off-leash park, this perk means your pooch may actually not beg for your pending cheese board. The company mascot, Tucker, was up for the challenge.

Grape Witches Waterworks Awaits

Steeped in the ethos of making natural wines more approachable, Grape Witches has a simple mission: to educate without the boring and stuffy overtones. The company, which launched formally in March 2020, brings people together in a fun and informal atmosphere. Whether it’s casual drinks and bites or a private event, GW ensures there’s no sour grapes to be had.

Grape Witches Have Cast a Spell on Maud Street

With two lively shops and a curated selection of over 350 rotating bottles, these witches know a thing or two about natural wines. And that’s both in-store and online. Think bone-dry German Rieslings, or Salami-Spiced reds from Emilia-Romagna, Italy. Unexpected and unusual is the standard here.

Enjoy wine flights, a reasonable 1oz pour for each wine makes the experience memorable.

Non-alcoholic wines are buzzy. Domaine de Grottes L’Antidote stands out.

This location at Waterworks boasts a tidy food menu meant for sharing. Smoked Sardines offer European flair. At-home heavyweights are easy add-ons, like Miss Vickie’s Chips, which are lovely dance partners.

Cheese boards feature two cheeses, local honey, olives and crostini.

Servers are knowledgeable about wines and happy to help you choose a new favourite. The whole effort feels charmingly European.
