Diwan is nestled inside the panoramic Aga Khan museum, a diamond in and of itself, so it only makes sense to channel the beauty of their latest exhibit Emperors & Jewels into captivating plates. Chef Shen Ousmand explored the theme and created dishes that are fit for royalty, embracing and uniting the beautiful works that are on display (and free to check out, every Wednesday, 4pm-8pm).

Diwan’s Sizzling Platter

Full disclosure: I might be a white chick from North York, but I’m blessed in the ability to count many of my friends as different from myself, many are from other countries and cultures, and while I have listened to their stories on why they moved to Canada, and what their native land is like, it’s helpful to understand and further educate yourself, and there’s no better way to soak up some history than through the lens of art.

I’m all about making connections. Walking through the various galleries and exhibits affords gawkers like me the opportunity to relate the intricate and detailed artwork, the fabric of the history, and evolve and weave that with the first hand accounts from my friends. So paired with Chef’s delectable menu at Diwan, it comes full circle. You’re nourished in more ways than one.
