Movies have the power to shape us. This is why it’s important to pay homage to the women in films that have became their own superheroes. They’ve defeated adversities, battled the status quo, and break stereotypes. We look for films not just to entertain and inspire us but also remind to be brave and resilient.
In keeping with the theme of celebrating women this month (actually everyday), we gaze our eyes and hearts towards their stories. They give us the fuel to continue the conversations that need to be had.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (Crave): Mildred is a grieving mother. As time goes by and no one has any leads as to who killed her daughter, Mildred takes it upon herself to find answers. By writing three controversial signs for the town’s chief of police, Mildred, starts a war in this small town.
Hidden Figures (Disney+): Based on the untold true story o three Black women at NASA working during the Space Race. Their minds and brilliance served as key components to launching astronaut John Glenn into orbit.
MAID (Netflix): Inspired by Stephanie Land’s Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother’s Will to Survive, a New York Times best-selling memoir. This series follows the emotional story of a young mother who is trying to raise a young daughter, dealing with issues of homelessness, poverty and domestic abuse.
Herself (Amazon Prime Video): A single mother escapes from an abusive relationship and as she pushes through hardships, she decides to build herself an affordable house to make sure her daughters never go back to their fathers. The only thing that she needs is a community that believes in her.
Rita Moreno: Just A Girl Who Decided To Go For It (Netflix): Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony winner Rita Moreno helps narrate the story of her remarkable 70-year Hollywood career with audacity and wry humor.
Hala (Apple TV): This emotional coming of age story follows Hala, a Pakistani American teenager that struggles to keep her family happy while trying to listen to her heart.
