It’s amazing what happens when you’re travelling these days. Recently we packed our bags to attend a wedding in Ireland. A few days leading up to our flight we began hearing stories of displaced and lost luggage at alarming rates. We’ve had it happen before. It’s a hassle so we learned to pack anything we absolutely need on our carry-on. And after our most recent trip we plan to only travel with carry-ons. But with that kind of planning we are forced to take our absolute essentials. From clothing to shoes,  I now pack what can do double or triple duty. That goes for my skincare as well.  A fresh new bottle of Vivier QuintiSerum arrived just in time to toss into my bag.

When I read about the what this serum could do, I figured it would take care of many of my skincare needs in one bottle.

The claim: This targeted antioxidant collagen booster firms and reduces signs of aging for younger-looking skin. Enriched with 15% Vitamin C, Vitamin E and 5 Peptides known to improve skin elasticity and promote collagen production.

I’ve been concerned about my gradual collagen loss ever since I hit the milestone 50 year birthday. Of course brightening and evening out skin tone to look less dull has always been something I’ve managed to maintain with serums. Elasticity? Yeah, that’s noticeable as of late. It’s all I needed to know to confidently bring it along with me on this trip. Plus, it’s a brand that I’ve discovered and trusted in recent years.

Not going to lie, it’s a pretty penny. At $250 for 30 ml it is one you want don’t want to waste NOT A DROP and keep close to you. By the way, I never rinse off any of the serum even off my fingers after applying. I rub it into the back of my hands for additional mileage.

How to use:

Cleanse and tone the face before use. You only need 2 to 3 drops of the QuintiSerum. Use fingertips to apply a thin layer to face, neck, chest and back of hands as desired, once or twice daily. You can follow up with your retinol or other target products, moisturizer and sunscreen as desired.

Thoughts:

I’ve always been a fan of serums. They work wonders if you understand the ingredients that help address your needs. Serums work like magic — only they are science and research based. I also find that you need to use them consistently to see results. If you can commit to that then you won’t be wasting your time, energy or $$$.

Having used this serum for a month now what have I noticed? Since it’s summer here and it’s hot and humid my skincare routine has a couple steps less than what I would do in the wintertime. About a month ago I started using this serum twice a day (after cleansing and toning). Now about 5 weeks later, I’m currently only using it at nighttime and the results have actually surprise me.

Why? Typically in the summer months the skin on my face go into overdrive. I am supersensitive to the sun, the environment (e.g air pollution, humidity, heat, and jumping in and out of air conditioned spaces etc.) and I know my pores can get congested if I don’t take care.

So, my current summer routine…if I am out during the day, as soon as I get home I’ll use a quick facial wipe (I currently like the Sephora one with active charcoal) to freshen up. At bed time, I’ll use a cleanser, exfoliant and toner (Victoria Radford). Then I’ll use a serum (currently Vivier QuintiSerum), and then eye cream (Victoria Radford) and sometimes a moisturizer.  Yes, I love my beauty rituals!

However, lately in the MORNINGS I’ve been only rinsing my skin with cool water and patting dry before adding on eye cream, moisturizer and/or sunscreen (Vivier Sheer SPF 30 Mineral Tinted) when I’m heading out.

I noticed in the morning my skin is even toned and no redness in appearance. But I also know that a really great SPF is the key for my super sensitive skin. I had a stubborn pimple on my nose recently (why the heck do I still get zits?). Usually when I randomly get these pimples they would get  irritated and (or… uh, if popped) would bleed and scab on and off for a few days. Not the best look.  My skin doesn’t bounce back as fast as say, 10 years ago.  Vivier QuintiSerum, has noticeably helped with my skin’s healing process faster than before. This was a noticeable difference. Again, I’ve been using this serum for a month prior to taking this photo.
