The Carbon Bar, known for its bold, smoke-driven BBQ, presents Coast to Coals: Where the Ocean Meets the Embers. This special International Women’s Day feature menu curated the restaurant’s female Head Chef, Taylor Wells.
The limited-time menu celebrates Chef Taylor’s leadership in the kitchen and her Newfoundland heritage and the generations of women who shaped her approach to food.
Raised on the rugged coastlines of Newfoundland, Taylor’s earliest memories are of standing beside her mother in the kitchen, learning to cook with intention. Summers were spent fishing for cod with family, preserving berries, and sealing jars of mustard pickles for winter – experiences that grounded her in resilience, resourcefulness, and community.
Recently inheriting her great-grandmother’s and great-aunt’s well-worn cookbooks, Taylor found herself reflecting on lineage. “They’re more than recipes,” she shares. “They’re proof of the women who cooked before me, who made something out of what they had and fed their families with care and creativity.”

Radici Project Japanese Tea Ceremony Experience: 588 College Street, March 22
For one afternoon only, Radici Project will transform into a tranquil Japanese tea setting. Led by tea masters Mika Sato and Satoshi Yoshikawa of Mika, a Toronto-based Japanese botanical and craft studio. The event will run from 12 pm to 1:30 pm, and will introduce guests to ceremonial matcha and premium Japanese teas through guided tastings paired with seasonal bites by Executive Chef Emiliano Del Frate. Jeff Wall Photographs 1984 – 2023: Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) Toronto, until March 22
An internationally celebrated artist, Wall is best known for his large-scale light boxes and his pioneering approach to photography. Since the 1960s, he has profoundly influenced the art form through his bold experimentation with scale, texture, colour, subject matter, and production techniques, redefining the possibilities of the medium.
This exhibition is a comprehensive survey of one of Canada’s most influential living artists. Wall’s first major Canadian survey in over 25 years, and his first in Toronto in 35 years, this monumental exhibition spans all three floors of the museum. Including light box transparencies, black and white photographs, and colour prints, the extensive selection of works at MOCA traces four decades of Wall’s practice, offering the opportunity to experience the full scope of his contributions to contemporary photography.

At the heart of ZAYO. Esie Mensah’s Afrofusion choreography, shaped by lived experience, ancestral knowledge, and contemporary expression. Drawing from traditional and contemporary West African movement, modern dance, and theatrical elements, the choreography functions as both memoir and ritual. Canadian Film Festival: March 24 to 29
The indie-spirited festival dedicated to celebrating Canadian filmmakers, today announced its lineup for the milestone 20th anniversary edition. Now marking two decades of bringing Canadian stories to Canadian audiences, CFF will present 16 features and 40 shorts from filmmakers across the country continuing its mission to showcase homegrown voices on the big screen. This year’s festival unfolds under its latest campaign, “Eyeballs Up,” a rallying call for audiences to look up, lean in and recognize the bold creativity of Canadian film. PROJECT HAIL MARY: Global Light Show lands in Toronto on March 17, Waterfront
You may have seen Ryan Gosling’s announcement about Rocky’s Global Light Show. Toronto edition will take place on Thursday, March 19th.
This is a special experience tied to the film Project Hail Mary that will be happening in only three cities around the world: Taipei, Berlin, and right here in Toronto! While the shows in Taipei and Berlin will take place at 8:30 PM local time, Toronto’s light show will run in the 9:00–10:00 PM window. The show will be happening at East Toronto Harbour and will be visible to the public along the east side of the downtown waterfront, east of Yonge St.
