It’s one of the most sought-after places in the world for families and their sick children. I personally have been several times and forever grateful for having this place so close to home. Truly a heartfelt experience that is sure to have guests  talking for days if not months or years. Now Airbnb has partnered with SickKids Hospital in Toronto for this highly exclusive accommodation that sheds light on the reality of the hospital infrastructure. You can see the listing here and we strongly suggest you to read the fine print and reviews: www.airbnb.ca/sickkids

The doctors and staff at SickKids continue to defy the odds daily while overcoming the barriers of a hospital, some of which was originally built in 1949. The reality is that the space has many limitations and to fully understand and feel the dire need for a new building, SickKids is taking extreme measures.

Created in an area in the hospital that is no longer used for clinical care, the SickKids Airbnb gives guests the opportunity to go behind the curtain at this world-class hospital. A true replica of a stay in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at the hospital, the experience is complete with the sights, sounds and all the emotions that come with them.

For one night, you’ll receive state-of-the-art care while you share a room with up to 6 others. However, there are only three single beds so four guests will have to sleep on chairs. There is no TV and WIFI is spotty… be sure to bring reading material.

The experience is valued at a total of $16,744, the cost for one night of operating a four-patient room in the PICU.
