We are constantly looking for ways to keep our skin looking and feeling healthy for many reasons. From covering up scars to hormonal changes to feeling better about ourselves and beyond, there is something on the market that will help us achieve what we are seeking. There’s always something that is the latest and greatest presented to us.

According to research findings released in June 2018, global cosmetic products market (includes skin care, hair care, personal and oral care, cosmetics) was valued at around USD 532 billion in 2017 and is expected to reach approximately USD 863 billion in 2024.

While I try and not get overwhelmed by everything that’s out there, I do on occasion come across products that deserve a closer look. Province Apothecary‘s Daily Glow Facial Dry Brush recently caught my attention.

Province Apothecary has garnered attention from beauty experts in Canada, U.S. and now globally. This hyper-local Toronto based skincare company began when owner Julie Clark began crafting her own natural and organic products. At that time Julie found the market lacking in products suitable for her sensitive skin due to allergies and eczema.

Extensively researching and experimenting with herbs and natural ingredients in search of the perfect skincare regime. She studied Aromatherapy, Holistic Health and Esthetics. She started Province Apothecary that focuses on small-batch, sustainable, and high-quality skin care. Her nourishing ingredients are sourced from each province in Canada.  Today, her business includes a brick & mortar shop, a Holistic Skincare Clinic, online store, and specialty stores also carry her line.

Okay, so now you’ve got a bit of background to this Canadian line…

I recently went in to try the Luminous Light Therapy Organic Facial – a treatment that combines the use of LED light to help the skin’s ability to heal and renew by increasing collagen production and blood flow. This treatment helps to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, and inflammation. I would say it’s the best facial I’ve had in a couple of years with visible results (I’m not talking about a temporary plumping up, either! Read about my experience here).  They also used a jade roller during the treatment (highly recommended – I had one prior to this visit). During the treatment, I learned about Province Apothecary’s daily rituals that are recommended to everyone that are surprisingly easy and takes mere minutes each day. Yes, you can give yourself a Natural Facelift and it doesn’t require any equipment. Just the tip of fingers and your time.  You can see here.

The Daily Glow Facial Dry Brush is a very simple beauty tool that’s another daily ritual that I’ve added to my morning beauty regime at home. What does it do?

The brush gently exfoliates and helps to give skin a glow and stimulates blood and lymph flow.

What’s it made of?

This hand-crafted an ethically made beauty tool is created in collaboration with Sweden’s Iris Hantverk and a collective of visually impaired artisans. The handle is made of certified responsibly forested oak and the soft bristles are made of shorned goat hair from reliable suppliers.

How to use it?

Every morning I gently brush my face right after I brush my teeth. Step-by-step instructions are provided and after two days of following along, I can just go through the ritual without referring to the video. After I cleanse my face.

Results?

My skin is noticeably brighter and smoother. I’m also getting fewer acne breakouts. Hooray! Because breakouts at my age are NOT fun. My skin does not bounce back like it use to! This low-tech tool is refreshingly simple to use and I look forward to my morning ritual – there’s something very soothing about starting my day this way. I’ve been using this facial brush for over a month now.
