The holidays are here, and there’s nothing worst than dusting off that old bottle of ice wine, or scrambling for a six pack in the back of your fridge. Be prepared for people dropping by, or having a BYOB option to tote to your holiday party. Stock your bar with festive finds, think beyond basic bar rails and amp it up with local liquors or imported bevvies.

Disaronno Amaretto
A perfect after dinner drink all on its own, or a perfect match for other liqueurs like Southern Comfort, Amaretto is a great bottle to have behind your bar. This year’s luxe look dazzles, with Trussardi, the Italian fashion house helming the design of the beautiful bottle. All dressed up and nowhere to go? Not any more! We shook 1 oz Guava Juice, with 1 oz of Amaretto, 1 oz of fresh lemon juice and garnished with an adorable tiny apple. Festive, fun and fashionable. $34.45 for a spiffy holiday set that includes two flutes.

Amaretto, of course

Levenswater Gin
Gin is a bar staple, but you can elevate that option by sourcing a local gin, like this one, made in Ontario boasting botanical notes with exotic notes from saffron, lavender and tellicherry pepper. The colour is so beautiful it’s best to pair with a clear mix, allowing the natural beauty to shine through. A classic G&T lets these notes shine, here, amped up with a little extra flavour with heady rosemary. $50

Gin Mary

Clase Azul Tequila
Tequila shots are for amateurs, this here is a sipper. Clase Azul is infamous for their classic tequila, using organic agave and American oak barrels for the perfect finish. The slender and striking bottle is a keeper too, hand painted and unique, making for a perfect gift. $199.70

Stags Leap 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon
This beast is one of my favourite splurge worthy wines. Tannin rich and ready for action, this Napa Valley stunner is well celebrated for its line of reds, a perfect pairing for that Christmas meal, or maybe just a decadent cheese board among friends. $54.95
