One of my favorite fruits in the world is making a huge leap into summer this year with everyone and anyone getting on the mango ride. And with beer it’s no exception. Brewers can easily create a mango flavour using different strains of yeast and tropical flavoured hops but why not go straight to source.
Now available in LCBO’s and beer stores across Canada, Innis & Gunn has done just that with their newest release Mangoes On The Run. Using a ton of fresh mangoes they have created a refreshing and easy drinking summer IPA. Pouring a gorgeous amber and only a tame 5.6% the fruit flavours burst through a mild bitterness and honey malt sweetness.
And to make this an even better choice to have in your beer fridge this summer why not create this palate cleansing, heat wave blocking Beer Granita. Three ingredients, a couple hours and a summer quenching party pleaser. Cheers!
1 cup Innis & Gunn Mangoes On The Run
1/4 cup water
3 tbsp sugar
1. Stir together all ingredients in a bowl.
2. Pour into a shallow baking dish and place in freezer.
3. After about 45 minutes remove from freezer and using a fork scrape the ice into chunks. Spread evenly and place back in freezer for 45 minutes. Shave further before serving if you want a finer ice.
