The One of a Kind Show returns to Toronto and in person this Spring (yay!) from March 30 to April 3 at the Enercare Centre, Exhibition Place. With over 350 artisans from all over the country we are inspired to get out  and explore. We’re making our list of gifts coming up — birthdays, weddings, graduation…Mother’s Day…ahem, and yes Father’s Day too! Here are some of our favourite makers that will be at this year’s OOAK Spring Show! (and don’t forget to enter our contest below!)

Celina K Ceramics (Toronto, ON): inspired by beautiful minerals, particles and clays from soil. Celina creates beautiful textures and naturally inspired by ancient philosophy and the earth’s deeply rooted lessons to us.

Celina K

Ellemairco (Caledon, ON): is a clothing company that is made with passion and soul by Lauren Mair. Down to earth, bohemian statement pieces, incorporating recycled, and vintage fabric into the products. Brilliant colours and intricate patterns. It’s all about creativity and feeling good about yourself and how you look. Lauren bases her designs on timeless bohemian styles that are easy to dress up or down.

Genie Kim (Oakville, ON): Painter, illustrator and ceramic artist has a whimsical site full of her artwork but it’s the “Healing Flowers” that I am drawn to. She explains in Korea, where she was born and raised, a flower on the head of a woman traditionally signified madness. While naturally it was often spoken in jest, still it was commonly the symbol of madness. And in the background of such women there were often painful wounds. It was with that idea that she began this collection. “I wanted to place a flower on the heads of such women. Not with the sense of “You are mad,” but with “You are beautiful,” and “You are incredibly lovely — it is not your fault.” How lovely they are when they have flowers in their hair!” said Genie on her site. The flowers are made with porcelain and she places them on the heads of the women in her works. Look for her “Healing Flower Plates” at OOAKS.

June and Valentina (Montreal, QC): I adore the beauty of the collection where each piece embraces the stylish bohemian spirit of Montreal. Handcrafted in their studios and I’m impress for the affordable price points. Lots of stackable options in their rings. This Juliette ring is refined and contemporary — made with fine moonstone, rose quartz and crystal.

Here Love (Toronto, ON): I loved her tag line “The Toronto play apparel brand for the frisky femme” and at first glance I crushed hard on the beauty of each piece. Refreshing, pretty and a little risqué. The Bardot Bras are one-of-a-kind pieces made in adorable *lovecore* fabrics & trims. Using small pieces of material that are just so sweet but only enough for one or two bras! Having scoped out her site, it was fun to learn that Doja Cat was a customer.

Here Love

Kimberley Francis (Xwesam, Robert’s Creek, BC): I discovered Kimberely’s work a few years ago while out west. Her cedar carvings make stunning gifts for weddings, baby showers, and house warming gifts. She offers a variety of themes including trees, surf, ski, forest animals, and can even custom make family. Truly unique and one of a kind pieces that will be cherished in any home.

Kimberley Francis

Oje Ajibe (Vancouver, BC): is a brand that is best described as a line of clothing that enlightens people on how to best represent themselves in all aspects of fashion. They  pride themselves pieces that are uniquely comfortable, inclusive, sustainable clothing, and all made by hand and to order in Canada.

Oji Ajibe

Baby Magoo (Aurora, ON):  Whimsical, unique and luxurious hand-made wares are created for adults and children of all ages.  The sweet product line includes personalized blankets and throws of all sizes, ‘perfect-fit’ hooded towels,  stuffed creatures,  whoo owls, and nursery decor. Great baby shower gifts!

La Lichee (Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Québec): I get weak in the knees for anything caramel! This pot of golden goodness is made using a family recipe and is simply delicious. Perfect slightly warmed for a simple drizzle over ice cream, or fresh sliced apples and pears, decadent over homemade crepes and exceptional over sticky toffee pudding. Hoard worthy.

La Lichee

Bruce County Nut and Fudge Co.: I’m obsessed with their hand-dipped chocolate caramel covered apples and fudge offerings. Literally the thought of them has my mouth watering. The family run company has been in business for over 30 years. But it’s not just about sweets. Their roasted nut selection are a perfect addition to any charcuterie board.
